To be able to present Silvia Bächli’s first solo exhibition in Sweden marks a unique opportunity. She works primarily with watercolour on paper, and she is one of the most significant Swiss artists using this technique. She creates watercolours large and small, linking them in groups or series. Her art is mainly figurative, but each line and shape is simplified and fragmentary in its idiom. Each individual watercolour possesses a rare strength, together generating an exuberant organic structure when seen in combination. Pervading her work is a tone ranging from the playful to the frightening – almost helpless – in the vulnerability of all living creatures that it reveals.
