Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam
Sol Calero is known for her colourful and playful yet socially critical installations that invite the visitor’s participation. Her exhibition comes at a crucial moment in the history of the museum: the museum is currently constructing Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen, the world’s first publicly accessible art storage facility, and in 2019 it will begin a major renovation of the museum’s buildings. For this reason, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen has asked Calero to reflect on these aspects within her installation.
